Megan Iemma is a tech geek and productivity guru. With a background in training and coaching, she founded Tech Coach HQ to work with businesses to improve their processes and boost productivity by using simple and cost effective technologies.

In today’s episode, host Jim Stewart chats to Megan about her top 10 favourite productivity apps for running a business, which is useful for accountants. It’s worth investing the time to watch or listen on iTunes for the time saving you’ll reap later on!

Here are some of the apps discussed:

  • Pocket – The one tool that should come with every browser, smartphone and computer. Pocket is an easy-to-use storage tool that lets you save articles, videos and more for later. Simply indispensable.

Note taking

  • Evernote – A mobile and desktop cloud application for note taking, list making, and brainstorming that organises your thoughts effortlessly.
  • Skitch for Evernote – An annotation and sketching tool when words are not enough. Integrates with Evernote.

Email Management

  • Mailbox – A smart mailbox app for your phone that cleverly implements the best-practice solution for managing your emails. Mailbox helps you to DEAL with it immediately, DEFER it, DELEGATE it, or DELETE it.
  • Boomerang for Gmail – Somewhat similar to Mailbox, Boomerang for Gmail lets you take control of when you send and receive email messages.
  • Unroll.me – A clever way to manage your email newsletter subscriptions, reducing all your newsletters to one single digest called a Rollup. Genius.
  • Yesware – Find out what happens after you click send on an email!

To-Do Lists

  • Todoist – Probably the most popular list app around at the moment. Easy to use, share, and access, plus you get karma for completing tasks. What’s not to like?
  • Trello – If you like moving post-it notes from a ‘to-do’ column to ‘done’, you’ll love Trello. Visually appealing, easily shared with colleagues with a cross-platform integration, Trello is hugely popular at MYOB for a good reason.
